What is the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)?
YOU are the PTA! The PS 197 PTA is the place for parents to:
Hear what is going on at the school.
Share ideas for the school and help create a plan to make it happen.
Form a community of support for our students by getting to know other parents
The PTA at P.S. 197 raises money for school events and needs through fundraisers. The money goes towards extracurricular activities for your children and the infrastructure of the school.
As part of the PTA, you have the power to contribute to your school. The money we make from fundraisers goes towards positive changes in the school.
Why Become an Active Member of the PTA?
Together, we can do wonderful things for the students of P.S. 197 but we need YOU to help! The #1 reason to actively participate in the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more reasons to get involved:
Get Connected - There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
Tap Into a Network - PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport, and discuss any issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
Speak Up - The PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
Be a Role Model - By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance of education.
Ways you can help: Donate money! Volunteer for an event! Join a Committee for a specific project or event! Come to a PTA Meeting! Everything helps.
Come to a PTA Meeting! All parents and their children are welcome at every meeting. Come get involved! We look forward to meeting you!
