ProWrite Keyboard — Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 26 June 2026
ProWrite Keyboard ("ProWrite", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This
policy explains what information the ProWrite Keyboard app and its optional Chrome
extension collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ProWrite, you
agree to this policy.
A core principle: ProWrite is designed to work without knowing who you are. We do
not require a name, email address, phone number, or Google sign-in to use the app.
1. Summary
What we DO collect:
- A random, anonymous app identifier (not tied to your name, email, or Google
account).
- An anonymized device identifier, used only to enforce free-tier limits and
prevent abuse (see Section 2.3).
- A minimal daily usage counter (a request count and a date).
- Your subscription status, validated through Google Play.
- The specific text you choose to send to an AI feature — only at the moment you
tap that feature, and only to generate a result. It is not stored by us.
What we DO NOT collect:
- Your keystrokes or what you type (except the text you explicitly submit to an
AI feature).
- Text in password, PIN, OTP, and payment fields — this is never read or sent.
- Your name, email, contacts, location, or photos.
- Advertising identifiers. We do not use ProWrite for advertising or cross-app
tracking.
- Payment card details (these are handled entirely by Google Play).
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Anonymous identifier
We assign each user a random, app-specific identifier through Firebase
Authentication (anonymous sign-in). It is not linked to your name, email, or
Google account, and is used to associate your subscription status and usage with
your installation.
2.2 AI feature content
ProWrite's AI features (Rewrite, Grammar, Tone, Translate, Emoji, and Ask) send
the text you have selected or entered — only when you tap one of these actions —
to our secure server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini AI for processing. The
result is returned to your device. This text is processed to produce a result and
is not retained by us as stored user content.
Your individual keystrokes and ordinary typing are never collected or sent.
Standard typing, suggestions, and emoji work entirely on your device. Text in
password, PIN, OTP, and payment fields is never read or processed.
2.3 Anonymized device identifier
To apply free-tier limits (a limited number of free AI requests each day) and to
detect and prevent abuse, we store a minimal daily usage counter. To keep these
limits fair, the counter is associated with an anonymized device identifier: a
one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) derived from your device's Android ID
combined with our app's identifier. We never store the original Android ID, the
hash cannot be reversed back to it, and it cannot be matched to identifiers used
by any other app. This prevents the free allowance from being reset by clearing
app data, reinstalling the app, or deleting the in-app account. This is not an
advertising identifier and is never used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
2.4 Subscription information
If you purchase ProWrite Premium, your purchase is processed by Google Play. We
receive and store a purchase token, product ID, subscription status, and expiry
date, associated with your anonymous identifier, so we can grant and verify your
Premium access. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
If you delete your data and later wish to link an existing, valid Google Play subscription to a new anonymous account, we may process your purchase token to verify the subscription's active status and associate it with your new installation.
2.5 Linked devices (optional Chrome extension)
If you link the optional ProWrite Chrome extension to share your Premium
subscription, we generate a temporary 6-digit code and store an anonymous record
of the linked extension session so Premium can be shared and managed. You can
remove a linked extension at any time from the app or the extension.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide AI writing features when you request them.
- Enforce free-tier limits and prevent abuse of the service.
- Grant, verify, and manage your Premium subscription.
- Maintain the security and reliability of the service.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
ProWrite relies on the following providers to operate:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, App Check) —
anonymous identity, secure backend, and abuse protection.
- Google Gemini AI — processes the text you submit to an AI feature to generate
a result.
- Google Play Billing — processes subscription purchases.
Your use of these features is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
5. Data Storage and Security
Data is stored on secure Google Cloud infrastructure. Connections between the app
and our servers are encrypted in transit. We use App Check to help ensure that
requests come from a genuine, untampered installation of the app. While no system
can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect
your information.
6. Data Retention
- AI request content: processed to produce a result and not retained by us as
stored user content.
- Your anonymous account record (identifier, usage counter, subscription
status, linked devices): retained while your installation is active and until
you delete it (see Section 7). The anonymous identifier is removed from your
device when you uninstall the app.
- Anonymized per-device usage counter: the hashed device identifier, a request
count, and a date are retained on our servers even after you uninstall the app
or delete your account. This is necessary to enforce free-tier limits and
prevent abuse, and is permitted as a legitimate interest in preventing fraud.
This record contains no personal information and is not linked to your
identity.
7. Account Deletion and Your Choices
You can request deletion of your data in two ways: in the app (Help & Support →
Delete Account & Data), or — if you no longer have the app installed — via our
web-based deletion request process at [https://sites.google.com/view/prowrite-keyboard/data-deletion-policy] . See that page for full instructions.
As described in Section 6, the anonymized per-device usage counter used to enforce
free-tier limits is retained for abuse-prevention purposes. It contains no
personal information and cannot be used to identify you.
Deleting your data does not cancel a Google Play subscription. To manage or cancel
a subscription, open the Google Play Store → Subscriptions → ProWrite.
You can also disable AI features entirely by declining the in-app Privacy & Data
consent; standard typing continues to work, and no text is sent off your device.
8. Children's Privacy
ProWrite is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your
jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International Users
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your
country. By using ProWrite, you consent to this processing in accordance with this
policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by
updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of ProWrite after a
change indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
