靜宜大學是美國印地安那州聖瑪利森林的主顧修女會所創辦，為了彰顯天主教信仰及價值觀，培養師生敬天愛人的情操並達到全人教育的目的，特在校園中心興建主顧聖母堂，表示天主是學校的中心，是學校的主人。

老師、學生與行政人員，在每天工作上課之餘，可以在聖堂中向天父祈禱，與天主談心。也可以來此欣賞宗教音樂清靜心神舒解心中壓力煩惱。大家更可以在聖堂參與彌撒聖祭，聆聽天主聖言，一起頌揚天恩，領受天主的賜福。

Providence University is a Catholic institution founded by the Sisters of Providence (SP) of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, USA, that aims to highlight Catholic faith and values, instill virtues of “respect for the Divine and love for others,” and promote holistic education for its students. Thus, Our Lady of Providence Chapel (OLPC) is erected right in the middle of the university premises, which clearly demonstrates God as the center and the master of the university.

Inside the chapel, everyone is welcome to pray or talk to God, enjoy relaxing religious music that calms the spirit and relieve the mind and body from stress and troubles of daily life. More importantly, all teachers, students and friends can also join in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, listen to the Word of God, praise His Holy name and receive His blessings.
