Hideez
Strategic redesign of the app to create smooth and simple user experience.
The previous Hideez app had an old-fashioned style, with a lot of features that didn't fully cover the user's needs.
App had difficult navigation structure with counterintuitive patterns and behavior for Android platform.
Hideez is a solution for keeping and securing all your passwords. Hideez consists of a simple one-button device, which actually stores passwords, and Android application to manage them. Current Android version of its app, but it didn’t comply with the Material guidelines, and was very complicated for onboarding. My task was to simplify the previous app version and design a new one for Android and iOS. New design should improve user experience.
It was clear that the new app must have the following features:
First of all, I have to identify target audience and conduct interviews with end-users. Hideez is very unique product.
Together with stakeholders we have described the target audience. After conducting several interviews with each of group members we understood their needs, pains and gains.
Then I have written a list of user’s needs and have started to come up with information architecture of the future app. First, I’ve described a logic of new user onboarding and linking Hideez device. After that new user got familiar with the features of the app and could continue working with it.
Also, I found out that 2 types of personas have low technical background level. I decided to create a kind of a benefit for each of the security settings. The more settings were set, the highter security level is achieved. It become as a tutorial section. Stakeholders and developers liked it.
First version of design was in light colors, but personas expect from application more trust and secure. Also, Hideez has its own corporate colors. I’ve conducted an investigation and compared other applications from AppStore and Play Market. I found out that most applications have dark themes. Also, if you want to hide something, you will do it in a darker place ) I understood that app must be dark.
I started create Atomic design systems and then designed other UI elements. It helped me to iterate quickly and be consistent.
After I finished Android app, I start working on design for iOS & MacOS App and Windows 8 platform also.
