By completing this WebQuest, you will learn what it is like to create a short piece of music that relates to a historical event in the United States.
You will conduct research on other songs that have been already been made in protest in the United States and why people made them.
Usually, protest songs describe the emotions that the singer is feeling during the event, or they describe the event that is currently taking place.
You will work in a group to decide on a stance/opinion on a major historical event.
You will create a short and school-appropriate song/poem in protest of your chosen historical event with your group members.
You will present your song/poem along with some facts about the historical event to the class using whatever presenting method that your group decides on (PowerPoint, Posterboard, Drawings, Timeline, 3D model, pamphlet, etc).
Students will reach State Standards of Music: Expression of Music (Perform/Present): Perform accurately and expressively making interpretive and creative choices; incorporating practice and refinement processes to develop independent musicianship" by creating a simple protest piece on a chosen history event.
