Position for Junior Research Fellow [SERB Project] Deadline: 26.06.2024 

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for a junior research fellow position in the Department of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute for Science Education and Research Kolkata, in the project, “Synthetic self-regulated microbial consortia for the production of cellulase cocktail towards the synthesis of lignocellulose-based products,” a project in the lab of Supratim Datta and funded by the SERB.

Brief description:  The project involves using a combination of molecular biology, enzyme engineering, biochemical and biophysical characterization, structural and computational biology, high-throughput screening, and genomic and proteomic discovery to identify enzyme targets.

Duration: Initial appointment will be made for 6 months and upon satisfactory performance extendable on a yearly basis for the duration of the project. Essential qualifications: B.Tech./B.E./MSc in Biotechnology/Biochemistry etc., and qualification in a national level exam and will be as per terms and conditions laid down by SERB. 

Desirable qualification: Experience in any of the following areas: molecular biology, protein biochemistry, protein engineering, synthetic biology

Position for Project Associate [DBT project]  Deadline: 26.06.2024 

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for a Project Associate-1  position in the Department of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute for Science Education and Research Kolkata, in the project, “Engineering of a novel enzymatic pathway to enable conversion of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) to bioethanol and its integration with cellulose hydrolysis,” a project in the lab of Supratim Datta and funded by the DBT.

Brief description:  The project involves combining molecular biology, enzyme engineering, biochemical and biophysical characterization, structural and computational biology, highthroughput screening, and genomic and proteomic discovery to identify enzyme targets. '

Duration: Initial appointments will be made for 12 months, and upon satisfactory performance, they will be extendable every year for the duration of the project.

 Essential qualifications: B.Tech./B.E./MSc in Biotechnology/Biochemistry etc., and as per terms and conditions laid down by DBT.
