The project that we have consists of a robotic hand that is 3D printed and that is controlled by several mindstorms bricks and motors. The fingers move at every joint, the wrist can move along 2 axis, we have a forearm attached at the base that moves up and down. There is also an ultrasonic sensor in order for us to program the robot with specific tasks so that it can pick up certain colored objects or even mimic a hand in front of it. The robotic hand is able to shake hands with people, mirror movements and make simple gestures such as a fist bump or high five. This can be used in different situations in real life such as bomb disposal, medical technological advancements in prostheses and not to mention creating humanoids. For this project we 3D printed a hand with specific openings for the motors to fit, then, using a complex string and pulley system, wired up all of the joints to have a fully functioning hand and arm.
