PROOF is an on-device writing evidence app for students, academics, and writers. It does two things. First, it lets you save free, unlimited checkpoints of your draft as it grows, building a private timeline of your real writing process. Second, when you want a closer look, it runs AI writing analysis on demand. Everything lives on your device.
No tool can prove how a text was written. PROOF reports evidence and its strength. Treat it as one signal, never a verdict.
Why PROOF exists
Being accused of using AI when you did the work yourself is a hard thing to disprove after the fact. PROOF turns your ordinary writing habit into a defensible record. Every time you save a checkpoint, PROOF stamps the moment, counts your words, shows what changed since your last checkpoint, and stores a SHA-256 fingerprint of the exact text. Over days and weeks, this becomes a timeline that shows the draft taking shape in your own hands.

What's inside
Receipts and checkpoints. Save a snapshot of any draft in seconds. PROOF records the timestamp, word count, a diff against your previous checkpoint, and a SHA-256 content fingerprint. Free, unlimited, offline.
Authorship scan. A sentence-by-sentence read of AI-versus-human signals in your text. You get a band, human-leaning, mixed, or AI-leaning, and a confidence level of low, medium, or high. It shows you the evidence, not a fake percentage and not a verdict.
Citation check. Checks your citations against APA, MLA, Chicago, or Harvard.
Source trace. Searches the open web for close matches to your phrasing. This is a general web search, not an academic database and not equivalent to Turnitin.
Full report. Authorship scan and source trace, combined into one view.
Voice profile. Calibrate a baseline from your own past writing, then let future scans flag voice drift, a passage that reads unlike your usual style. Drift is a prompt to look closer, not evidence of AI use.
Projects and deadlines. Organize your work, set deadlines, and get local reminders. A built-in Quick Scans bucket keeps one-off checks tidy.
Insights. On-device statistics, including words written this week, rolling 30 and 90-day windows, a writing-activity heatmap with your streak and busiest day, and readability metrics. All local, all free.
Share extension. Send text from any app straight into PROOF to scan or checkpoint it.
A note on honesty
Detection is imperfect. It is weaker on short passages, heavily edited text, translated text, and non-native English writing. PROOF is designed to be calm and precise about this. It reports what the evidence suggests and how strong that evidence is, and it leaves the judgment to you.
Privacy by design
No accounts. No sign-in. No ads. No tracking. No analytics. Your projects, checkpoints, reports, and settings stay on your device. The only data that ever leaves is the specific text you choose to submit for a scan, sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to a third-party AI provider to produce the analysis. You can erase everything at any time.
