Modelos computacionales de redes sociales aplicados a la polarización del Valle del CaucaÂ
PROMUEVA is a multidisciplinary project that bridges computer science and social sciences. Its primary goal is to develop reliable computational models of social networks to analyze polarization. This will enable modeling, measuring, and predicting polarization in social networks, a phenomenon that has impacted specially he region of Valle del Cauca and the city of Cali in Colombia. The Promueva project will produce mathematical models of key social network elements, such as communication policies, privacy settings, and users' cognitive biases, contributing to a better understanding of polarization and helping prevent its negative effects on peace, tolerance, and civil discourse.
Â
Develop a computational model of social networks to study the phenomenon of polarization. The model will be based on epistemic logic and concurrency theory, guided by political polarization research from the social sciences.
Any social network model must include a mechanism to specify and reason about privacy policies and data leaks. The second part of the project focuses on the privacy aspects of our social network model.
Develop efficient algorithms to analyze large-scale networks and machine learning algorithms to identify patterns or predict specific behaviors related to polarization in social networks.
