EDC1GB is a signup code for Eskimo eSIM that adds a free 1GB global data plan to a new account. Eskimo sells travel eSIMs covering 175 countries and regions, with global plans otherwise advertised from around US$1.80/GB. The code is valid until 09/09/2027. Everything below is what sits around that headline.
The offer is framed for new users. In practice that means the code belongs in the referral, gift or promo code field on the signup or registration screen, entered before you finish creating the account. If you already have an Eskimo account, you can try the VOUCHERS / GIFTS / PROMO page in the app, but whether EDC1GB is accepted there is not confirmed — signup codes are one-time by design, and only one code applies per account.
No credit card is required at signup, so eligibility does not hinge on adding a payment method. The practical gate is hardware rather than paperwork: your device must be eSIM-compatible and network unlocked. Broadly that covers iPhone XS and newer, recent Google Pixel models and Samsung Galaxy S20 generation onward. The Eskimo app can detect eSIM compatibility automatically, which is the quickest way to settle the question before you register.
Download the Eskimo app from the App Store or Google Play, or begin registration on the Eskimo website.
Create a new account using a phone number and email address.
Enter EDC1GB in the referral, gift or promo code field before completing registration.
Finish registration; the free global plan should appear in the account's data section.
Open the DATA page and follow 'How to Install eSIM' to download the eSIM profile.
The one step that realistically voids the offer is skipping step 3. Once registration is complete without the code, you are no longer a new signup, and the only remaining route — the VOUCHERS / GIFTS / PROMO page — is unverified for this code.
The allowance is 1GB on a global plan. That is roughly two to four days of light use; video streaming will consume it in under two hours. It is data only — no local phone number, so no calls or texts over the mobile network.
Expiry is the murkiest part of the terms. Eskimo states that fixed data plans have no expiry date and that data stays available until fully consumed, yet the apps describe a 24-month validity window on data plans. Those two statements do not sit neatly together, so treat 24 months as the safer planning assumption and check the plan detail page in your account for what applies to your specific allowance.
The exact country list attached to the free global allowance is also worth verifying on the plan detail page rather than assuming it mirrors the full 175-country footprint. Eskimo's regions span North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and worldwide coverage, but the free plan's own coverage should be read before you travel.
A few things people expect to be restrictions are not. You install the universal eSIM once; adding future plans does not require a repeat installation. When a plan hits zero, the profile connects to the next one automatically, which avoids stranded data. Data can be transferred, split or sent to others. Top-ups bought in the app or on the website are added instantly.
Separately, Eskimo runs a referral programme paying 500MB per friend invited, plus limited-time cash vouchers, and the app offers travel cashback through Trip.com, Booking.com, Klook, Expedia and Viator. None of these are stated as conflicting with the signup code, though the one-code-per-account rule still applies.
Confirm device compatibility, enter the code during registration rather than after, read the plan detail page for the free allowance's country list and validity, and budget the gigabyte against light browsing rather than streaming. The code's own deadline of 09/09/2027 leaves plenty of room; the tighter constraint is how quickly 1GB disappears once you are connected.
