REQUIRED FOR KINECT DEVELOPMENT
–NOT CREATED BY iSTEM. INDEPENDENT PROJECT–
REQUIRED FOR KINECT DEVELOPMENT
NOTE: I'm going to attempt to color-code what will be required and what may be required depending on the situation. Also, I learned a lot about programming the Kinect from Unity Discussions which I will link at the bottom.
----
GREEN (Required)
Due to the use of Kinect in this project, Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 24H2 is recommended.
NOTE: I'll provide a link to the ISO for both operating systems & other links at the bottom.
Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0
Kinect for Windows Runtime 2.2.1905
Kinect Unity Packages
NOTE: These are critical packages. These are provided by Microsoft Learn.
The Kinect sensor itself as well as its adapter.
NOTE: I'm using the Kinect V2 (Xbox One Sensor). There is also the Kinect V1 (Xbox 360 Sensor) which may be used as well.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 (This will be critical for coding in Unity).
NOTE: I haven't set up MSVS2022 in quite some time, I believe you will need to look for the "GAMING" section in the installer & check some sort of a box. The word "Unity" should be in there somewhere.
The Unity Hub. This is how the game engine will be installed.
YELLOW (May be required)
Rufus
NOTE: Older Intel-based Macbooks are capable of running Windows. Rufus can create bootable USBs. It is highly unlikely that you will use this though. I want to mention that this is more likely if you don't happen to own any Windows laptops & don't want to spend extra money.
USB-C to USB-A Adapter
NOTE: A USB-C to USB-A adapter (I am including this since not all laptops running Windows have USB-C). This could be used to transfer the game across devices. However, I have usually been able to ZIP up the game folder & transfer it onto cloud services like Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. Newer MacBook Air models are using USB-C.
Red-Orange (Extras, not required)

NOTE: You don't technically need an OEM Adapter. You simply need an adapter. I am providing a link to where you can buy an official OEM Kinect Adapter from Microsoft. I also want to add that Microsoft is no longer making these adapters. The Xbox One Kinect has been around for basically a decade now.
