About the Project
About the Project
SOMISA explores the securitization of migration in South Asia, with a particular focus on the Rohingya crisis and its implications for India and Bangladesh. The project critically examines how migration is framed as a security threat, analyzing its impact on refugees, local communities, and national security policies. By examining the intersection of migration, security, and human rights, SOMISA aims to provide a more nuanced understanding of the forces shaping the South Asian context and their broader geopolitical significance.
Supervised by Dr. Kristina Kironska, Assistant Professor and Head of the Myanmar Studies Center at Palacký University Olomouc, and Co-Director of the Central European Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS), this project is part of the MSCA CZ Postdoctoral Fellowship from September 2024 to October 2026, hosted by Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic. The project reference number is CZ.02.01.01/00/22_010/0008685.
