We are six second-year students who are currently studying Film and Audiovisual Media at the Dutch Filmers Academy in Eindhoven. Of course we find tremendous joy in making films, but we furthermore find it essential to dedicate some of our work to spreading awareness and informing audiences about pressing matters.
So when we were handed the assignment to produce a large-scale project for our course “New Business”, we immediately knew we wanted create something that could make a difference. For this specific project we decided to make a film about the significance of preserving an endangered species: sea turtles.
When examining previously produced documentaries which mention the dangers that turtles face, oftentimes we would find that they solely focus on the infamous plastic soup in the oceans. Don’t get us wrong! This is in fact the most prominent problem, but other issues, such as light pollution and poachers, are often overlooked or forgotten. We feel that it is detrimental to discuss these topics extensively in our documentary so action can be undertaken in order ensure our turtles’ safety even further.
Stay tuned!
Hey, my name is Vera and I’m 19 years old. I love movies and I also enjoy being able to be creative. I’m quite studious and I really enjoy learning new things! I also really like a challenge! I’ve always had a lot of love for sea turtles, so I therefore cannot wait to see them in real life!

Hi! My name is Carmen and I am 20 years old. In my free time I love walking in nature with my dogs, reading and watching movies. I have always been intrigued by films and therefore I am thrilled to now have the opportunity to make them myself.
With my movies I aim to make a difference and inspire action, so I am delighted to work on this documentary and raise awareness about climate change and endangered species! For this project I am taking on the role as director and I am also in charge of sponsoring!
Hey, my name is May and I am 19 years old. In my free time I love to spend time with friends, make the best of life and to watch movies. This obsession with movies began when I was a little girl, mostly because of the perfect life these fictional characters have and that everything is possible.
This is also what I love so much about filmmaking, it is a way to use all my creativity in and nothing is too crazy or too overambitious. Same with the documentary we’re about to make where I will fulfill the role of camera operator!
Hey, my name is Marie. I’m German, but grew up in the south of the Netherlands. My hobbies are baking and reading. I also like to photograph/film wildlife, especially in the winter if it snowed.
For this project I am the head of the socialmedia campaign. I like marketing because I get to figure out what people like to see, and I like to be creative. I hope I can reach a lot of people with our marketing campaign, so we can spread our message and save turtles!
Yo, I'm Remus! But you can call me Ray if ya want!
I'm 26 years old and I'm from Romania. I moved to The Netherlands when I was 9. Over my lifetime I've developed a fascination and passion for art. It started with music which lead to me becoming a metal singer. And now I'm on my path to becoming a filmmaker. I watch a lot of movies and love in depth discussions about them. I also play lotsa video games like God of War, The Witcher and Sonic the Hedgehog.
On this project I am the master of sound! I will be delivering every bit of sound you'll hear in the documentary. From the voices of those on screen, to the foley (every bit of sound like footsteps or water flowing). I'm excited to dive into this world of audio and help strengthen the experience.
