This tool is meant to be used with team members as a way to co-create a plan. The process of answering the questions on the following pages (as a team) is designed to stimulate buy-in and create clarity around a project.

Think of it as a starting point for conversations more than a definitive answer to everything needed. The tool provides a non-exhaustive list of overarching themes that can stimulate conversation and assist teams through the process of thinking differently about their approach to a project.

Ideally, the tool will not be needed forever, and teams will start to approach projects with this system gaining clarity as a starting point for necessary conversations. In the best-case scenario, each participant in the project has their own co-created plan. Making time to sit down with a team member to explore these themes and co-create clarity before engaging in a project can assist in satisfying critical needs that employees have in the workplace:

    • The act of making time to go through the process can stimulate healthy interpersonal relationships and healthy conflict
    • Helps team members more fully understand their contributions to the project
    • It satisfies the need for equity by allowing people the opportunity to collaboratively define their contributions to a project
    • It allows team members the opportunity to feel recognized for their efforts
    • Reducing errors and having clarity around outcomes when things go wrong can help create a more psychologically safe environment
  • What this tool is not:
    • For micro-managing employees
    • For project management
