Use NetLogo to explore how the density of the fire's fuel (mostly trees and other plants) impacts how much of the area will burn.
Use your science journal to collect data and graph how fuel density and percentage of area burned are related. You will:
Set your fuel density to 20%, click "SETUP," then click "GO." Do this 2 more times at 20%. What do you notice about the percent burned each time? Average your 3 runs and record your average for 20%.
Follow the same steps for 40% density, 60%, and so on. Complete the table of averages in your science journal. Then, graph fuel density and percent burned. Which one is your independent variable and which one is your dependent variable? On which axis will you place each variable?
