Wildfire Dynamics

Humans are fascinated by fire. Many of us have sat around a campfire or an outdoor grill. When we sit around a fire, we often spend time looking at the flames as they crawl across the wood used for fuel, watching the ash float in the air, and predicting where the smoke might move. We are making observations about the fire's behavior.

Fire scientists start with the same curiosity about wildfire behavior.

Throughout this lesson, you will make and record observations about fire in a science journal. Open the journal and make a copy of the template. Record all your work on this document and turn it in to your teacher at the end of the lesson.
