Artifacts
I created these two artifacts for my multigenre persuasive campaign that argued that plastic-degrading bacteria are a potential solution to marine plastic pollution and that policy change is necessary for the further development/usage of such bacteria. These artifacts demonstrate how ENC 2135 helped me become more aware of the rhetorical situation, allowing me to more effectively employ rhetorical strategies. This is explained in further detail in my reflective statement.
Artifact 1: Infographic
The infographic I created includes information in a concise and visually appealing manner. You can see through the statistics that marine plastic pollution is a significant problem and that genetically engineered plastic-eating bacteria offer a potential solution. However, I explain that current legislation restricts its potential, demonstrating the need for policy change.
Artifact 2: Formal Letter
I wrote a formal letter to Representative Neal Dunn, the U.S. House Representative for Florida's 2nd Congressional District (where FSU is located.) The purpose of the letter is to address an audience of policy-makers who could take direct legislative action. I first explain how plastic-degrading bacteria are a potential solution to the severe marine plastic pollution problem. I then urge him to advocate for needed legislation that prioritizes marine plastic cleanup and that supports the use/development of genetically engineered plastic-degrading bacteria.
