The Status Quo

Few students are interested in being personally involved in politics. Throughout the county, students aren’t concerned with what is going on in their own communities. Youth don’t pay attention to the 3news stories, policies, or representatives that affect their lives most directly.

Essentials of Engagement

• Youth is key
  • We believe that as the leaders of the future, teens should strive to be more civically involved. They are, as Lavinia Dock put it, “young, fearless, eager, rebellious”, with a “clear-eyed sham-hating intelligence.” We strive to help them find clearer pathways to civic engagement.
• Connection
  • Students more actively participate when they know a specific issue is relevant to their lives. By asking them how politics and government affect them, they can personalize it, and become more involved.
• Information
  • We know that as a generation growing up with the entire world of knowledge at the press of a button, the teens of today rely on and deserve unbiased and factual stream of political information. By giving students direct access to their elected leaders, we give them critical information about policies right from the source.
