Rural women in India practice one or the other craft, at least many of them know basic sewing, mending and basic embroidery. Week 14 of Project स्वावलम्बन capitalized on this undermined skill of theirs. Our participants were trained to make paper patterns for basic utility products and then utilize fabric waste generated in the production of clothes, to make these products high on utility and aesthetic index. They were also made understand the modular production system where they worked as a team and every product made is done by all members in the team and each member specializes in one kind of operation. Kudos to our expert Jharna Joshi who facilitated, guided, and mentored all the participating women.
