One of the main goals of our team is to create something that our community can continue for as long as possible. To this end, we suggest for any of you to try and design your own routes and share them with the community! Our team have tested three apps, and Strava and Specialized Ride are apps better for predesignating routes, but Map My Ride is an app that you can use to make a ride that you yourself tried available for others in the community to replicate! Here, we will explain how to do just that.
When you first open up the app, what you want to do is click the stopwatch icon in the middle of the toolbar at the bottom. That will open up the screen shown to the left. As you can see, whenever you're ready and about to start cycling, you can just hit the big green "Start Workout" button.
After hitting the "Start Workout" button, you will see the screen shown to the right. As you move, the app will track your path with a light pink line, as well as the time elapsed and the distance traveled. The app also tracks elevation and calories burn, all of which can be seen later when the workout is shared so people can decide based on their own goals whether to run your route! Additionally, if you ever stop to go somewhere in the middle of the workout, you can just hit the red "Pause" button and the tracking will pause.
To the left, you can see what is shown when you pause the workout. As soon as you have completed your new route, just do as the app says and hold the red button!
After finishing the workout, the screen to the right will be shown. As you can see, you can rename the workout and add notes about your experience, and you can even add any photos you took!
To the left, you can see and example of how you should name your workouts for the community to see! Don't forget, "ACS Project Cycle – ". Add some notes if you'd like about how your ride went for others to see!
To the right, you can see an example of what it looks like once you hit save! You can look through the map of your path and all the other stats on this page. Of course, at the bottom, you can hit "Share" and send your route however you like!
Speaking of which, if you'd like to try this route, here is the link!
An important thing to note is that you have to make your workout public for everyone to see it. To get to the screen at the left, just click the three dots icon at the top right corner of the screen shown above. At the very bottom of this screen to the left, you can see an option for "Privacy". Click this and select "Everyone" so that everyone can see your new route!
And that's it! After you've published your workout, people can then search for them by typing in "ACS Project Cycle". Please try your best to add to our community's options of routes!
