Co-Design Project-Based STEM Curriculum
As part of the teacher professional development, participants will work with their colleagues and computer science educators from Arizona State University to co-design a community project-based learning experience for their students. Teachers will help identify issues and topics in the communities where their students live that can be used as an anchor for learning. Course instructors will share tools, resources and strategies for integrating content learning in STEM and language arts into a process of asking and answering questions on their identified community topic.
Community Project-Based Learning in STEM integrates learning across disciplines.
Science: Engage with the science and engineering practices and grade-level science content
Technology: Learn how to use data visualization technologies to illustrate key ideas and findings
Engineering: Engage in engineering practices and the engineering design process
Mathematics: Modelling with mathematics and develop quantitative reasoning
Language Arts: Research, read, write, and talk about the project for a virtual capstone event
