Cultural competence is the ability of an individual to understand and respect values, attitudes, beliefs, and mores that differ across cultures and groups, and to consider and respond appropriately to these differences in personal and community interactions.Â
Progress Norwood promotes cultural competency through amplifying relevant resources, community collaborations and direct action.Â
Some of our accomplishments include:
Partnering with the Morrill Memorial Library to bring in speakers on racial and gender literacy
Supporting local stand-out events for Black Lives Matter and Pride
Co-hosting Norwood’s annual Pride Picnic
Sharing a Virtual Week of Action for Racial JusticeÂ
Partnering with Impact Norwood to throw a World Cup Soccer Match and Cultural Celebration
