Week of Action  June 2020

The Progress Norwood Week of Action for Racial Justice was a virtual event designed to help members of the Norwood community respond to racial injustice. Below is information about the Week of Action and you can check out the cultural competency resources shared during that week at the links below.

Many of us may just be beginning the process of understanding the role we can and do play in this fight.

All are welcome, though this event is geared toward white folks who want to do more, need help knowing what to do, or may be at the beginning of their anti-racist journey.

Recent events—including the pandemic, the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Brionna Taylor, and George Floyd—have many feeling despair and frustration. Black, Indigenous, and people of color have long held these burdens and need us to step up.

So, in an attempt to “gather our own,” we hope to help you turn good intentions into actionable deeds.

The Action starts Tuesday, June 2, 2020. Each day we’ll share events that consist of 2-3 action items. We ask that participants commit to at least one action per day. Actions will be related to direct impact, child development, and self-education.

After you complete your action, we want to hear from you. This work will not end after one week. Your input will help us know how we can help further, as well as give everyone an opportunity to share as we learn. It will be a safe space to ask questions. Comments will be approved by admins so we can ensure participants are honoring the purpose of the project.
