Designed for students in 5th-8th grade with no coding experience, START Programming will introduce the foundations of programming through mini-lessons, interactive exercises, and a culminating project. Participants will be equipped with a robust set of programming skills that foster a deeper comprehension of the intricacies of coding. Covered in the camp will be the basics of programming and their relevance to various fields, such as software engineering, cybersecurity, algorithmic programming, and data analysis. This program focuses on establishing a strong foundation in programming that will serve as a stepping stone to proficiency in other coding languages beyond Python.
Cost: $125 (5 days, 3 hours each day)
Understand the foundations of programming and the different sectors of computer and data sciences
Write basic code in Python to perform automated tasks
Comfortably explain the purpose behind different Python syntax and how code interacts
Google Colab will be the Python editor used throughout the program. Colab is a FREE editor allows anybody to write and execute arbitrary python code through the browser, and is especially well suited to machine learning, data analysis and education.
Campers will need to provide their own devices. Acceptable devices include, and are limited to:

Campers will use FREE softwares to complete interactive exercises and a project.
**If possible, each camper should come with a fully accessible Google account which will allow them to sign up for each software — free of charge — to use for the entirety of the camp.
