Dr. Thillainathan Logenthiran began his academic teaching journey in 2005 at the University of Peradeniya, where he introduced students to power systems and control through hands-on laboratory instruction. The following year, he joined the University of Ruhuna as a Lecturer, teaching digital and industrial electronics with a strong emphasis on experiential and lab-based learning.
His teaching approach has been shaped by five years of industrial experience in Singapore’s oil and gas sector, as well as advanced academic training, including a Ph.D. in Electrical Power Engineering and a year of postdoctoral research. While pursuing his doctorate at the National University of Singapore, he served as a Teaching Assistant, designing experiments, leading tutorials, and supporting undergraduate engineering instruction.
Between 2014 and 2018, Dr. Logenthiran was an Assistant Professor at Newcastle University’s Singapore campus, where he taught and coordinated a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. His role involved curriculum design, assessment development, and ensuring that course content met institutional and accreditation standards. Throughout his teaching career, he has maintained a strong focus on real-world application, academic excellence, and student engagement.
His teaching portfolio reflects a commitment to delivering high-quality, practice-oriented engineering education. A list of courses he has taught is provided below.
