The Criminal Justice System is meant to maintain law and order, and enforce public safety. However when there is an incentive of money, priorities shift to increasing profit over public safety and rehabilitation.

In our English class we read the social protest novel Chang-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, which demonstrates a world where the Criminal Justice System is at the forefront of society. Prisoners have to fight to the death for entertainment, while private institutions profit from it. Relating to the Criminal Justice System in our society because private for-profit prisons value profit and revenue over rehabilitation and public safety.

The Criminal Justice System values are corrupt, prioritizing revenue and the incentive of money, over the rehabilitation and well being of the inmates being held in private for-profit prisons. The Criminal Justice System needs to be reevaluated to prioritize the individual needs of inmates.
