Thanks for visiting my webpage. I'm an applied linguist and I currently hold a faculty appointment in the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies at Te Herenga Waka/Victoria University of Wellington (NZ), and in the department Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona (US). I'm also a regular faculty member in the PhD program in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching (SLAT) at the U of A. Before coming to the U of A, I was Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics at Northern Arizona University.
I completed my PhD in applied linguistics at the Pennsylvania State University. I have an MA in TESL from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a BA in Spanish-English Technical, Scientific, and Literary Translation from IES en Lenguas Vivas (Argentina).
My research and teaching interests are in pragmatics; interaction analysis; qualitative interviews; corpus-based discourse analysis; second language acquisition and pedagogy; language learning in study abroad; and usage-based approaches to second language development.
In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends hiking, discovering new places, or playing in the pool.
