Designed to be a 2-week, self-guided, customizable elective to improve IM resident comfort, knowledge, and skills in performing common bedside procedures.
The procedure curriculum website will serve as the foundation for procedural knowledge which residents can use to review throughout the course of the rotation. The equipment checklists and instructional videos will help guide residents prior to performing all procedures during the rotation.
For integration and application of knowledge, residents will be given opportunities for hand-ons practice by dedicated simulation practice and direct patient procedures.
For simulation practice on task trainers, please contact our CAMS Operational Manager, Barbara Sierra, in the beginning of the day to reserve time at CAMS. All procedural kits will be available to familiarize yourself with the equipment.
For direct patient procedures, all residents will be provided a list of contacts to reach out to in the mornings. These points of contact will notify them of available procedures to perform that day. The procedures will be supervised by attendings on said services as well as Chief Residents at MSM and MSW. You have the option of customizing your experience by prioritizing certain services and procedures over others based on your experience and elective goals.
