Welcome to the MSMW IM Residency procedure curriculum. This website will help guide you through the equipment available in our hospitals, basic steps and information pertaining to each procedure, and additional training videos and articles. The purpose of the site is to serve as the foundation for procedural knowledge and a resource residents can continue to turn to at any point during their career. It is meant to be the initial step in our longitudinal procedure curriculum for acquisition of procedural knowledge prior to integrating and applying the learned concepts through simulation practice and direct patient procedures provided during our formal procedure elective.
Familiarization with the equipment available in our hospital. This includes the ability to walk through the kits and utilize the equipment checklists to prep procedures on a day-to-day basis.
Acquisition of required knowledge needed to perform each procedure including indications, contraindications, complications, post-procedure care, sterile approach, how to consent patients, how to perform a time out, and more.
Acquire procedural skills by providing instructional steps with tips and tricks, as well as instructional videos, prior to integration of skills through simulation practice and direct patient procedures during the procedural elective
