Dr Tony Heher
The talk will be illustrated with incidents from Tony’s 40 year career, which he describes as follows:
‘A misguided and meandering academic career led to five degrees in a variety of disciplines, which in turn, led to five equally misguided and meandering but interesting careers’. In the course of these careers, he encountered various incidents of fraud, both minor and major, in both the government and private sectors. The talk will illustrate how such incidents happen, why they happen, and, most importantly, the consequences.
It will be ‘interactive’ and Probians will be asked to be a ‘jury’ and to decide on the guilt, or innocence, of some of the protagonists.
The critical importance of trust will be stressed - fraud undermines trust and a lack of trust contributes to fraud - the two sides of the coin.
