An outing is organised once a month (usually on the last Monday) to a wide range of places. The descriptions below are some of the recent places that have been visited. The outing is always followed by lunch together at an onsite or nearby restaurant.
A full list of all Outings since 2018 is also attached. Like the Lunch speakers, they too illustrate the rich diversity of activities of the Club.
31 March 2025 The Museum of Dogs
From their website: https://museumofdogs.co/
"The Museum of Dogs is dedicated to celebrating dogs and exploring their role in history as comforters, friends, and workers through captivating stories and interactive displays. Proudly based in Cape Town, we invite visitors to join us in honouring these loyal companions.
We currently feature six exhibitions: the history of dogs in South Africa, the influence of dogs in culture, forty personal stories on how dogs have influenced our daily lives, a photography exhibition by DJ Shelwell, a ceramic exhibition by Tania Babb, sculptures by Carol Slabolepszy and Mervyn Dragsund, an exhibition on dogs of the White House and short films from around the world.
The Museum of Dogs is not a super serious place. Many of the objects on display can be interacted with, as long as you don’t remove them! And feel free to laugh or cry out loud."
Entrance fee: For pensioners, there is an entrance fee of R75, which includes coffee. Note that you may take your dog provided that it is on a lead at all times.
