Born in Hong Kong, Stephen Wong was trained at the Royal College of Music (London, UK) and received his Master of Music degree at the McGill University (Montreal, Canada). His teachers include Tu Yue Sien, Margaret Lynn, Patricia Carroll, Ruth Gerald and Dale Bartlett. The recipient of Jardine Matheson and McGill music scholarships, Wong was also a finalist in the Hong Kong Gina Bachauer Competition in 1985. He collaborated with McGill Symphony Orchestra, Les Grand Ballet Canadiens de Montreal and also performed in the Rome Chamber Music Festival as well as performing throughout Asia, including Mainland China, Macao and Taiwan.
Wong is a much sought-after pianist for both solo and ensemble concerts including solo recital in 2018 at Boston MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and collaboration with pianists Josephine Cheung, Kawai Chan, and Verna Yeung; vocalists Nancy Yuen and Ella Kiang; clarinetist Martin Choy; and ensembles Hong Kong Voices, Ella Kiang Singers and The Learners Chorus in Hong Kong. He has also been invited regularly to record for Radio 4, The Radio and Television of Hong Kong. He also performed at “Art, Culture, and Music at the Airport” (2017-19) , co-presented by Extension and Continuing Education for Life of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and Hong Kong International Airport . Piano duo collaboration with Amy Sze has appeared at City Hall Virtuosi concert series presented by LCSD (Leisure and Cultural Services Department), Radio 4 Music of Friends, Music Alive of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Musica del Cuore, and various concerts of HKAPA , Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Hong Kong Education University.
Currently, Wong teaches at music faculty of HKAPA, HKBU, Hong Kong Chinese University and Hong Kong Education University. He has been adjudicating for numerous piano competitions and examinations, as well as giving masterclass at HKBU, Hong Kong International Institute of Music, Hong Kong Music Institute and Lambda School of Music and Fine Arts in Montreal. 2022 will mark the 13th year of his successful piano students’ annual concert “Music and Friends”.
Apart from being a concert artist and teacher, Wong also composes for movie soundtracks, such as A tale of Three Cities (2015) , and participates in theatre acting, dialect coaching and voice over for multi-media productions.
黃偉榮生於香港,在英國倫敦皇家音樂學院接受音樂訓練,後獲加拿大蒙特利爾麥基爾大學頒授音樂碩士。師隨於屠月仙、林敏柔、柏翠西亞‧嘉露、露絲‧謝拉爾德和戴爾‧巴特勒。怡和獎學金及麥基爾音樂系獎學金得主,黃氏於1985年晉身香港珍娜‧芭侯雅比賽總決賽。1995至1999年間,他於麥基爾大學音樂系教授鋼琴、室樂和擔任聲樂指導。他曾與麥基爾交響樂團、加拿大蒙特利爾大芭蕾舞團同台獻技,並於意大利羅馬室樂音樂節及亞州等地,包括內地、澳門與台灣演出。
黃氏是一位廣受歡迎的鋼琴家,經常參與不同的獨奏會和小組合奏音樂會,包括2018年於波士頓麻省理工學院舉辦的獨奏會,並與不同的演奏家合作,包括鋼琴家張頌慈、陳家尉和楊慧儀;歌唱家阮妙芬與江樺、單簧管演奏家蔡國田,以及香港和聲、江樺合唱團和學士合唱團。他不時為香港電台第四台進行錄音。2017-2019年,他獲邀為香港演藝學院演藝進修學院與香港國際機場合辦的「藝術、文化與音樂巡禮在機場」作多場表演。黃氏與施敏倫的雙鋼琴演奏曾於康樂及文化事務署主辦的大會堂樂萃、香港電台第四台的室樂雅敘、香港科技大學的Music Alive、Musica del Cuore、香港演藝學院、香港浸會大學及香港教育大學等音樂會上演出。
黃氏現任教於香港演藝學院、香港浸會大學、香港中文大學及香港教育大學。除了為多個鋼琴考試及比賽擔任評審外,他也常指導鋼琴大師班,包括香港浸會大學、香港國際音樂學校及加拿大蒙特利爾LAMBDA音樂與美術學院。2022年,黃氏的鋼琴學生第十三屆週年音樂會「Music and Friends」成功舉行。
除了演奏及教學,黃氏亦從事電影配音製作,如2015年上演的電影《三城記》,並參與劇場演出、方言指導及多媒體配音製作。
