📹Video Introduction
Hi! My name is Riley (he/him).
I am an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with an Honours Bachelor of Science and a Master of Teaching from the University of Toronto. I am qualified to teach Grades 7-12, with subject specializations in Biology, Chemistry and General Science. I am very familiar with the Ontario curriculum.
I have four years of tutoring experience and two years of teaching experience, having completed my placements and supply work at various high schools within the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).
My goal is to provide quality, personalized tutoring that supports and strengthens the learning of diverse students, develop effective study and learning strategies, and build their confidence and motivation to succeed academically and reach their potential.
My teaching style is grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Differentiated Instruction (DI) and Culturally Responsive and Relevant Pedagogy (CRRP), ensuring equitable participation and inclusion of diverse cultural and learning backgrounds by making content relevant and applicable to their interests and understanding. I strive to make learning accessible, interactive and engaging beyond traditional instruction through visual and hands-on approaches in an online setting. This includes using the whiteboard to draw and annotate images and worksheets while collaborating with the student.
My motto is: “Learning does not start until a love for lifelong learning is instilled into the classroom.”
