Privacy Policy
PDF Private Lite is the free edition of PDF Private, a privacy-focused PDF viewer for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and what it does not do.
PDF Private Lite is designed to work offline, without accounts, without ads, and without collecting personal data.
Your PDFs stay on your device.
We do not operate servers for your documents.
We do not collect, sell, or share personal information.
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
No internet permission is required for core PDF viewing.
We do not collect personal information.
PDF Private Lite does not ask you to create an account and does not transmit your name, email, location, contacts, or document contents to us.
The app may store the following only on your device:
Recent PDF list — up to 5 recently opened documents (file name and access reference/URI).
App preferences — such as single-page view mode and dark theme.
Temporary cache files — created while viewing or processing PDFs; you can clear these from the home menu.
Files you choose to save — such as downloads or screenshots, saved only to folders you select on your device.
Your original PDF files remain where you stored them. Opening a PDF does not upload it to us.
Show advertisements
Require registration or sign-in
Upload PDFs or document content to our servers
Track reading habits or app usage
Use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs
Sync files to the cloud
Access location, camera, microphone, or contacts
Require an internet connection to view PDFs
PDF Private Lite uses Android’s system document picker (Storage Access Framework). You choose each file.
When opening a PDF, Android may show sources such as Downloads, Documents, or cloud providers (for example Google Drive). That list is provided by Android, not by us. The App only receives access to the specific file you select.
To use local files only, pick a file from Downloads or Documents on your device.
File access: Through Android’s document picker — you grant access per file.
Storage (older Android versions only): Used when you request actions such as saving a download or screenshot on devices that require it.
No internet permission: Core PDF viewing works fully offline.
Upgrade link: If you tap Get Full Version, Android opens the Google Play Store listing for PDF Private (paid full app). That interaction is handled by Google, not by PDF Private Lite.
When you use Share, Print, Send Feedback, or similar actions, you use Android system dialogs. Data is sent only to the app or service you choose (for example your email app or another installed app). PDF Private Lite does not receive or store that data.
PDF Private is a separate paid app with additional features. It follows the same privacy principles: local processing, no cloud sync, no tracking. Purchasing or using the full app is optional and handled through Google Play when you choose to upgrade.
You can:
Remove items from recents without deleting the original file
Clear cache and recents from the home menu
Uninstall the app to remove its local data from your device
We do not retain copies of your data on our servers because we do not collect it.
PDF Private Lite does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
