Supporting Content and Examples

These resources were complied by Missouri educators in response to teachers requesting additional content-specific information to support local curriculum and assessment work surrounding the social studies priority standards. The purpose of these resources is to serve as a starting point for local discussions around pedagogy, curriculum, instruction and assessment. They are teacher suggestions based on experience and insights gleaned from teaching the MLS over the past five years and are intended to represent a diverse and flexible range of ideas.

This document, created by Missouri educators, includes a brief grade-level description of Social Studies for Kindergarten through 5th grade. Each grade level also includes potential organizing inquiry questions, identifies priority standards for that grade level and offers relevant content standards. Key grade appropriate terms are hyperlinked throughout the document.
