All cities have room to improve both economically but also for the environment. “ the choices that are made about how cities are built, inhabited and maintained will have long-term global effects.” (https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/02/smart-cities-inclusive-future-technology-growth) In the futuristic Oakland we will have green roof’s to help maintain the cities temperatures, along with recycling millions of gallons of rainwater. The green roofs will give wild life places to thrive and take little to no room in the cities. It will increase animals, birds, and bugs population especially wildlife close to extinction like, bee’s and types of birds who are crucial to our ecosystem and food. This will help with pollution, and global warming as well. Not only that but these roofs will save companies money every year on energy and water.
In the futuristic Oakland we will have better monitoring systems, helping with crime, and real time functioning. Also helping prevent infectious diseases, and kidnappings. There will be a way to help citizens work there way through the city and hold people accountable for their actions.
We would need a sustainable city that denser populations can thrive in but also coexist with the natural order surrounding it. Human population is growing which means more people are coming to cities, and the cities are constantly growing. Futuristic Oakland will have to accomodate the growth in population. we will have more efficient ways to live and have the city running off of mainly sun and wind power to minimize any longterm effects on the enviornment.
