There are many types of pollution, air pollution and trash pollution. Air pollution affects the air and how clear it is to breath and see, notice how clear the air is now, this compared to the air when the Napa fires happened is a big difference. Everyone had to wear a mask because the air wasn't good for you to breath and could cause respritory problem along with other health issues. We are slowly still harming our earth and air with fossil fuels being burned, with cars, busses, boats, and planes. Another huge problem we have is plastic pollution, and if we do not get it under control will affect our water, and soil. Photo- deocompostion is a chemical reaction in which a chemical compound is broken down by photons, and poisions everything. Pollution makes the land water and air dirty and unsafe for us. We constantly contaminate the natural world. Things as simple as light, sound and tempature can be considered pollution, because its artificial to the enviornment. We dont realize what bad effects these pollutions will have on our city, and could turn our future bad, and unlivalbe.
Pollution isnt our only issue that can become worse, our communities have a lot of violence and selfishness in them. Gangs, police brutatlity, wars, and domestic abuse will only become worse if we do not deal with it now. A bad future of Oakland would have a corrupted government, where police bully citizens and the rich take advantage of the less forturnate. Communities and families would be torn apart by drugs, and imprisonment.

We throw trash that is non recyclable plastic into water and on the ground, and our landfills keep piling up. We are not aware of how much garbage we use in a day or where it goes after we're done with it.
We put bad chemicals into the air, with fossil fuels from our transportation. Homes and factories also creat a lot of air pollution, the most common pollutants are greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels, this is made up of gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and sulfur dioxide, which are warming the planet, called the "greenhouse effect". Factoreis contribute to our air negatively by acidifying rain, chemical spills and the bad disposal of toxic waste.
Climate change is also directly hurting humans physical health, urban areas with warmer climates have lots of smog due to ozone particles that increase rapidly in warmer tempatures. This hurts us with asthma and even lung cancers.
Light pollution is in every city, including Oakland. Light pollution is too much midirected or interfering light. Too much makes stars less visible, makes it hard for research, hurts our natural ecosystem, and even has health effects. It is a serious threat to our nocturnal wildlife, hurting both plants and animals. It confuses birds in migration, and change the predator prey relation.
Water pollution is another huge problem we have created, we intorduce unatural substances and material in the water including chemicals, sweage and pesticides. We even pollute our water with metals like lead and mercury. Many rivers, lakes and bays are not even safe to fish in or swim in because of the harmful effects we created. Our marine life is effected by our pollution, killing animals and warming waters in cold region and ice melting.
Warming water is called thermal pollution, it holds less oxygen and this can kill the marine wildlife. Glaciers are melting and our sea level is rising, and thats killing off wildlife in these cold regionsn and flooding other areas effecting both animals and humans.
