Writing letters can be a great way to be an activist, whether that's writing letters to voters asking them to vote or not to vote for something, or writing letters to politicians explaining how they are affecting us. Writing letters is a great way to make your voice heard if you are anxious about coming to protest. I am hoping that we can get a bunch of letters together and send them off to politicians like Ron DeSantis or other representatives voting to take our rights away.
Introduce yourself and how these bills are affecting you and the people you love
Talk about why trans and queer rights matter and should be upheld
Try to remain civil; people are more likely to read your letters if you don't insult them
*This doesn't mean you have to forgive the things they've done
Talk about what you would like to see happen and what changes need to be made
Which bills should be rejected
How they should stand up for LGBTQ+ rights
Close by thanking them for considering the impact they're having (or something along those lines)
There are a couple different ways you can send your letters to the politician you are writing to. Some of which include:
Looking up the address of the representative
Contacting me over Instagram so I can send it (@transprotestsf)
Once you contact me you can send it to me with postage stamps on it and I can send it for you
