I will post and update detailed weekly tasks (see Parents Section below) so parents are aware of work required from students on specific class dates. Students must check Google Classroom for more detailed instructions on weekly assignments.

Weekly Calendar and Class Activities:
Week 19 - January 28 - Chapter 11 test will be given towards the end of class. Chapter 11 CRQs assigned. Shark dissection worksheets due.
Week 18 - January 21 - Ch. 11 SRQ and AR11A due in Google classroom. Shark and perch dissection. Insect trap project for Lab 12D was assigned last week. Students are to continue planning on and working on the design of this trap.
Week 17 - January 14 - Happy New Year! Ch. 11 Vocab quiz. Students are to bring their bingo tokens as we continue reviewing the animal phyla.
Merry Christmas!
Week 16 - December 17 - Last day of fall semester! We will finish discussion on vertebrates, have the combined Chapter 10 test/midterm, then a Christmas party afterwards. Students may bring a snack to share (optional). Earthworm dissection lab due.
Week 16 - December 10 - Chapter 10 SRQs and Activities Review exercises assigned, to be uploaded on Google Classroom the night before class. Students should bring their animal bingo tokens for a review game that will count as a lab. Earthworm dissection during the second half of the class period.
Week 15 - December 3 - Living Kingdom project due. We will start our study of the animal kingdom. There will be a quiz on Ch. 10 vocab terms.
Week 14 - November 19 - We will continue our discussion on fungi in Chapter 7 and review CRQs before the test. Students are to bring their group answers to the Handwashing Lab, along with other uncollected lab worksheets (Labs 2D and 4D). With your permission, they can bring collected, not store-bought, mushrooms to class for bonus points (totally optional). Please remind students to continue working on their Living Kingdom project, due on December 3.
Week 13 - November 12 - There will be a quiz on Chapter 6 vocab. Lab 4D (Spudoodle) Lab is due. We will finish Chapter 6 on Bacteria and Viruses with a lab exercise on handwashing. Then we will begin Chapter 7 on Protists and Fungi. We will be moving fast as we begin our study of whole organisms, so please encourage students to stay on top of their chapter readings.
Just a reminder that their Living Creation scrapbooks are due on December 3, so please remind them to continue working on their scrapbooks.
Week 9 - October 15 - Students are to finish putting together their paper nucleotides at home and bring them to class. Student will use their nucleotides to build a DNA strand with their lab partner. We will continue discussing Chapter 3 and have the test towards the end of class. Students are asked to bring a penny, a nickel, and a quarter next week for an upcoming lab. The coins will be returned to the students after the genetics lab on October 29.
Quarterly grade reports should be sent out by the end of the week.
Week 8 - October 8 - Dividers for Living Kingdoms Classification project are due in class. Chapter 3 SRQs and AR 3A & 3B were assigned. Due in Google Classroom the night before class. Students are to bring colored pencils for the DNA paper model.
Week 7 - October 1 - There will be a quiz on Chapter 3 vocab. Vocab terms for the chapter are assigned. We will build our DNA paper model.
Looking ahead, Dividers for the Living Kingdom Classification project are due on October 8.
Week 6 - September 24 - Chapter 2 test will be given this week. Selected CRQs and Activities Review 2B assigned and to be uploaded the night before class. Students were given gradesheet and instructions for Living Creation classification scrapbook on Week 5. Students were advised to go over project instructions with parents.
Week 5 - September 17 - SRQs are assigned and due in Google classroom the night before. Microscope quiz online due the night before class. We will do Lab 2D. Continue work on Doodle Notes (to be finished in class). Students have instructions on how to do this.
Week 4 - September 10 - We will begin our study of cells. There will be a quiz on Chapter 2 vocabulary. Finish Lab 1E (from Activities manual) at home and submit worksheets in class. We will continue Lab 1D on microscopy.
Week 3 - September 3 - We will review and finish Chapter 1 activities and students will take their Chapter 1 test before the end of class. Activities Review 1C is due in Google classroom the night before class.
Week 2 - August 27 - Quiz on Chapter 1 vocabulary. Selected section and chapter review questions (SRQ/CRQ) are due in Google Classroom the night before class. Continue studying Chapter 1 to prepare for test the following week (see Class Calendar). Students are to upload completed Review 1A (done in class). We will do Activities Review 1C and Lab 1E in class.
Week 1 - August 20 - Student introductions. Chapter 1 vocabulary list to be uploaded in Google classroom the night before class. Bring hard copy to class. Read Chapter 1 in textbook; read Activities 1A & 1C in Activities book, but do not answer (we will do this in class).
