Extra Activity 4: Fitting a Distribution

In this activity, both discrete and continuous datasets were analyzed and modeled using appropriate probability distributions.

For the discrete case, the number of goals scored in football matches was modeled using the Poisson distribution. The observed probabilities were compared with theoretical values, showing a close match.

For the continuous case, study time per day was modeled using the Normal distribution. The empirical cumulative distribution function (CDF) was compared with the theoretical CDF, and the values were found to be similar.

Alternative models were also considered and compared, confirming that the chosen models provide a better fit.

Overall, the analysis demonstrates how real-world data can be effectively approximated using probability distributions.
