SETTING:
An old train station platform in a small town. It is early evening in late fall. The building is worn and slightly run-down, but still in use.
A single bench sits near the center of the platform. A flickering overhead light buzzes softly. A large clock is mounted on the back wall.
At rise, the platform is empty. A distant train whistle is heard.
SAM enters from stage right, dragging a small suitcase. He pauses, looks around the platform, and checks the clock.
SAM:
(quietly)
I hope I’m not too late.
A gust of wind blows leaves across the platform as JESS enters from upstage, pulling her coat tighter around her shoulders.
SETTING: A classroom late in the afternoon.
Desks are pushed to the sides of the room, leaving an open space in the center. Sunlight streams through one window.
ALEX stands alone, holding a backpack.
ALEX:
Everyone already left…
SETTING:
A school hallway just after the final bell of the day. Lockers line both sides of the stage. Most of the lights are off, except for one flickering light near the far end.
A janitor’s cart sits unattended near stage left.
At rise, the hallway is empty. The echo of distant footsteps fades away.
MIA enters slowly, carrying a backpack. She stops at a locker and opens it.
MIA:
I can’t believe I forgot my phone…
SETTING:
A dusty attic in an old house. Wooden beams stretch across the ceiling. Boxes are stacked unevenly along the walls.
A single bare bulb hangs from the ceiling, casting long shadows across the room.
At rise, the attic is silent.
BEN climbs up through a trapdoor near center stage, holding a flashlight.
BEN:
(whispering)
Why does this place always feel creepy?
SETTING:
A quiet waiting room. Two plastic chairs sit against a blank wall. A small table holds a stack of old magazines.
A clock ticks loudly in the silence.
At rise, LENA sits alone in one chair, tapping her foot.
LENA:
They said it wouldn’t take long…
