DJI N3 controller based enterprise hexacopter with a package dropping mechanism
I worked as the team lead on the project and was responsible for system conceptualisation, electronic systems and design & prototype of the package dropping mechanism and testing of the proof of concept. In addition to these responsibilities I was also responsible for robotic systems engineering aspects- system requirements, system integration and system architecture. The frame design and frame prototyping was done by my other teammates.
One of the major challenges that we faced was the power requirement for the hexacopter. Since the hexacopter was supposed to carry 8-10 kgs of payload for 30-40 minutes the system had to be designed in a thoughtful manner keeping in mind the power requirements at peak performance and also the average power requirement. We were able to successfully prototype and test the enterprise hexacopter which could carry a payload of 8-10 kg for around 30-40 minutes- that means it could carry 4-5 medical packages and drop them using an actuation system independently.
