About Dr. Tej

I am currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT Allahabad), India since 14th June 2019.

Before joining to the MNNIT Allahabad, I have worked as a Post-doctoral Research Assistant in the Micro-fabrication Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna), India (From 25th April 2019 to 6th June 2019).

I received Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering (Specialization: Mechanical Micro-fabrication, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Bio-tribology, Surface and Interface Science, Micro-fluidics and Applied Materials) from Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna), India on 25th April 2019 with First-class (8.0 CGPA in Course Work). I worked here from 23rd July 2013 to 25th April 2019 as a PhD Research Scholar.

I have also received the Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree on 19th July 2013 in Mechanical Engineering (Specialization: Computer Integrated Manufacturing) from National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal), India in First-class with Distinction (8.70 CGPA). I have studied the postgraduate course here from 18th July 2011 to 19th July 2013.

I have received the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree on 25th June 2010 in Mechanical Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal, India with First-Hons. and Gold Medal (81.25% Marks). Here, I secured 7th position in the entire technical university (Batch 2006-2010). I have studied the undergraduate course here from 25th July 2006 to 25th June 2010.

I have always enjoyed working with people of varied expertise, as this offers a means of sharing and learning of various streams more closely. I believe that the development of science and technology allows us to understand the real-life problems very closely and work towards the resolution of those problems by interacting with experts from multiple streams.

In addition to the research activities, I also work for the development of rural living standards by educating the people. Be it conducting workshops to spread the importance of education to putting science to use for improving quality of life; I find it my responsibility to contribute for the development of the society.

My previous experience will also allow me to work as part of the research group and to be an effective representative.

About my previous workplace (Micro-fabrication Laboratory)

The Micro-fabrication Laboratory works under the direction of Dr. Karali Patra and Dr. Probir Saha in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Patna, Bihar, India. The Micro-fabrication Laboratory has the facilities of Multi-purpose Hybrid Micromachining Center (DT-110, Mikrotools Pte. Ltd., Singapore) and Laser Scribing/Marking Machine (20W Fiber Laser, Sahajanand Laser Technology Ltd.).

Multi-purpose Hybrid Micromachining Center provides a single platform where one can perform several operations like micro turning, micro drilling, micro milling, micro grinding, micro electric discharge machining (μEDM), micro wire electric discharge machining (μWEDM) and micro wire electric discharge grinding (μWEDG).

Laser Scribing/Marking Machine is a multi-diode pumped fiber laser which mainly utilizes for creating micro-textured features on metallic materials based on the applications.

Apart from these machines, the Micro-fabrication Laboratory has also the facilities like; Kistler mini dynamometer, data acquisition system (Kistler and National Instruments), chemical assisted micromachining, vibration assisted micromachining and cryogenic machining setup for machining of soft materials.

The prime objective of the laboratory is to provide the facilities of a single step cost-effective fabrication techniques, especially for the application-oriented highly precise complex 3D micro-featured devices. Later on, these devices can be explored based on their specific scientific applications such as; biomedical, heat transfer, micro-fluidics, tribology, etc. It may explore the-state-of-the-art experimentation, investigation of an optimum process parameter, path planning, and machining process mechanics based modeling. The gathered understanding is then further utilized to improve machining performances based on different applications.
