Question: How can you apply what was expressed by the speakers of the forum in your professional functions to the specialty of the master's degree you are studying at INTER Arecibo?
"I was quite surprised by the conference, especially since I attended it virtually the day it was held last quarter. However, I vividly remember being particularly struck by the last speakers on the topic of Literature and Physics: towards a new tool for curricular integration.
This caught my interest because I teach science and mathematics; and at that time, I found it very difficult to capture the attention of my students so that they could become interested in the areas of mathematics and understand their importance, or even science, specifically physics. These two final speakers discussed the profile of the 21st-century student, focusing on their interests. They explained that the curriculum should be evaluated to capture the students' interest. These educators combined their subjects and created a new idea, adapting concepts and skills from Spanish, physics, and mathematics to create a book that could capture the students' interest and facilitate learning.
As future educational leaders, we must consider how students learn and their skills to ensure optimal learning; and that this learning is effectively achieved. Focusing on the socio-emotional skills mentioned by the speakers, which are important for the student to become a holistic person. As educational leaders, we must motivate teachers and find ways to achieve the main objective, which is for students to truly learn and be able to pursue and follow their goals. Since that conference, I have adapted my classes to be more relevant to my students' lives and have sought ways to reach them; and for them to truly learn about the subject. After some time, I have seen the fruits of this approach in many of my students, thanks, PRASCD."
