I have studied under Prasad Sir for all 4 years of my Engineering and I can, with utmost confidence, say that Sir has been one of the best teachers I've ever learnt under. I've done multiple projects with Sir in the last 4 years, and the technical knowledge that he has imparted has made all the difference for me. It was only because of him that I got multiple opportunities to learn and upgrade my skills, during my Engineering. I've learnt more from him than I could've from any textbook or notes. I wa fortunate that I had him as my Final Year Project guide. He always pushed me to adopt new technologies and incorporate them in the project. What mattered the most was that whenever I was stuck anywhere, he was always available to teach me and help me out. As a student, that's all you look for in your teachers. Sir has always been a mentor to me too, whether I needed help academically or otherwise. He was always understanding and patient about all the issues I had faced the last 4 years and always tried to help me out with them. And as my teacher, it carried a lot more value for me. All I can say is that I was lucky and fortunate that I got to learn from Prasad Sir and I hope other students get to learn from him the way that I did.
Mr. Prasad Purnaye had been a friendly faculty to me back in MIT Pune. He has helped me and guided me in various projects and activities through the college term. Be it data science, data structures, animations or web designing Prasad has good knowledge in many domains and it was great to know him in person and work in his guidance.
I first had Prasad sir as a lab instructor and later as the professor for gamification and cloud computing. Both were electives that I voluntarily signed up for, and I am glad to say that my experience was really great. Being fairly new additions to the CS curriculum, I relied more on his classes and labs than the guides. I am proud to say that these electives were some of my better scoring subjects and I have retained the concepts well enough to apply them in my professional career. His explanation of complex concepts like virtualization and his assistance in development of my thinking methodology are some of the things I am particularly appreciative of. In addition to the curriculum, I always enjoyed discussing my projects with him and his enthusiasm and encouragement for such pursuits of knowledge has been a source of tremendous motivation for a student like me.
I first met Prasad Sir in the first year of my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I intended participating in a coding competition for the first time and was searching for some guidance. Prasad Sir was then teaching Fundamentals of Programming Languages. I approached Prasad Sir with my queries. He enthusiastically gave numerous insights and tips, which were of immense help. Due to his warm and welcoming nature, over the next three years, I sought his guidance time and again.
When we expressed keenness in undertaking a practical project, Prasad Sir proposed conversion of the legacy library management system of our Computer Department to a web-based multi-user one. That was the first time I worked on a project of such a scope. All through the project he not only helped us cross the technical hurdles as we encountered them but also resolved administrative issues such as access to the college databases. I later took the HPC add-on course in which he was one of the faculties. As expected, Prasad Sir’s engaging technique and deep knowledge made the course a very rewarding experience.
Prasad Sir's love for teaching is only matched by his care for his students. On so many occasions he went out of his way to encourage students. I recollect, at the conclusion of HPC add-on course, which he had taught, he gifted specially printed coffee mugs to the best performers. Conceiving of a special memento to encourage good performance is the hallmark of Prasad Sir’s thoughtful touch. On another occasion, we needed the computing resources from the college for our Bachelor's project. Possibly unprecedented, he not only acquired for us the access to the department's super-computer but also the permission to keep the computing resources running round the clock for weeks.
Personally, during the four years of my degree, Prasad Sir is probably the only teacher at whose desk I turned up time and again when faced with a problem, and each time he helped me with earnest attention. I consider myself indeed fortunate to have had Prasad Sir as a teacher during the critical years of my academic life.
I had a positive experience at MIT as an undergraduate student undertaking the High Performance Computing course. The level of enthusiasm shown in teaching the subject motivated me to learn more about this field to the extent that I am now considering on pursuing a Doctorate with specialization in parallel and distributed programming in formal verification. The practical labs provided gave a succinct introduction to parallel programming paradigms. Any questions about the subject were sufficiently answered.
Outside of class, Mr Prasad was always ready to help with personal projects and academic matters. I was implementing a shared memory parallel model of radix sort in OpenMP and approached him with any questions about OpenMP. He also provided me with a strong recommendation when I needed one to pursue higher education. Overall, I believe him to be a well rounded academic professional.
