Hi, I’m Dr. Pramod Raghunath Ubare, an engineer, researcher, and enthusiast of electric vehicle technology—on a mission to blend intelligent control with real-world practicality.
My journey began with a deep fascination for how machines move and Electronics works. This led me to pursue my undergraduate degree in Electronics engineering, where I first encountered the magic of electric motors. That spark quickly grew into a passion, especially for electric drives and control systems. I knew early on that this wasn’t just about spinning rotors—it was about shaping the future of mobility.
After completing my bachelor's, I delved deeper into the power electronics and motor control domain, eventually earning my Ph.D. in Electric Vehicle Traction Motor Control. My doctoral work focused on the sensorless control and high-efficiency operation of PMSMs (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines)—a cornerstone in modern EV powertrains. My approach combined classical control theory with hands-on implementation, always keeping one foot in theory and the other in practice.
I choose to major at my B.E. in Electronic Engineering and at M-Tech in Automotive electronics with an intense urge to delve into the challenging field. During this both program I learned the various fundamentals of Electrical, Electronics Engineering and some basics of Automobile. As I am exploring this ever growing world of Technology and electronics, my keen interest is goes on reinforcing at every level.
After finishing my 10+2, I secured my admission in one of the reputed Engineering college from our region namely the P.V.P.I.T. engineering College, Sangli , under Shivaji University Kolhapur, India, and then I finished my four year bachelors degree in 2010 from Electronics. My keen interest not allowed me to settle down at this position and after this I prepared myself for GATE and then got 98 percentile in GATE. That helps me to take admission in one of premier institute of India called VIT,University Vellore . In first year of M-tech program I got award of “BEST performance “, for course of “Embedded system on HCS12”.and even at end of the M.Tech course I able to secure 2nd position in Automotive Electronics branch with 9.03 CGPA.
In my under graduate program I took part in many National level technical competition like code war, circuit design, Technocrat , contraption etc and performed well and in some of them secured position. From my second year of UG, along with my friends we formed team of Contraption in which we are creating the mechanism which runs autonomously and doing many energy convergence in continuous manner and finally come to end with specific task. This our team was very famous in our local region, we used to participate in different college event for the same a received 2 to 3 award. And because of this activity along with technical aspect we learn to work with team and specially understood what so called “Jugad”. And also my first encounter with world of embedded control system. From that experience I learn lot of things which are helping me till now. The project I have done for final year of under graduate that was one of the economical and well developed projects of that year of the department. This was my trigger point to go for higher studies in Automotive Electronics. Also in My master’s education at VIT, Vellore not only given me a certain set of skills but has also helped me in understanding my fields of interest and my academic strengths and weaknesses. And projects what I did specially during masters program increase my interest in research domain.
In the career of 4 year of my teaching I have taught subjects like embedded system micro-controller and its applications RTOs, Network theory, Embedded Processor which drives me to work in domain of embedded control system. But when I attended one workshop on Optimization and optimal control at COEP I attracted toward it and wish to work on the same platform especially in Embedded Model predictive control for different application.
The industry experience will give the real work and problems exposure. Those
My ideas towards my career are clear, I believe education is life long process and therefore I wish to receive doctor degree and thereafter I will continue combine research and teaching as a career.
Post-PhD, I stepped into the professional world where I continued my research and development work, contributing to the design, modeling, and real-time control of electric traction systems.
But my journey doesn’t stop in the lab. I’m also the mind behind PRUed Tech, a YouTube initiative where I break down cutting-edge research papers and make complex EV control technologies accessible to students, engineers, and enthusiasts alike. I strongly believe in knowledge-sharing and giving back to the research community.
When I'm not immersed in control loops or simulation models, you'll probably find me traveling to new places, sipping a strong cup of tea, or enjoying moments with my family—who’ve been my biggest supporters throughout this adventure.
I continue to evolve as a learner, researcher, and creator—and I’m excited to explore what's next in the electric mobility revolution.
