In the 3rd semester, I chose specialization in English Studies with 3 core papers [Writing Lives, Language and Identity and Translation Studies] and 2 electives [Cultural Disability Studies]. Through the core papers, I explored, understood, and analyzed the various forms of self-narrativization, the role language plays in the formation of self, communal and other identities, and the politics and process of translations with an emphasis on the South-Asian context. Along with this I also was introduced to cultural disability studies, its scope and need as well as the world of publishing. Throughout the semester, I attempted to take an interdisciplinary approach and produce work that utilized learnings from the above-mentioned papers and those taken in the previous semesters.
My focus in this semester was to explore the various facets of English Studies and apply the research and creative skills learnt previous semester to develop qualitative academic work.
Along with academic writing, I also worked on non-academic projects which involved compiling and editing an anthology named Shahar (published by Verses Kindler Publication in February 2021), helping Katha, India in network and outreach for a national education initiative, and developing assessments for project Jeevat [Teach For India].
Following are the highlights from this semester:
