Dr. Zuhrah Beevi
Director, Smart Mind Psychotherapy; Previously, Assistant Professor in Psychology, School of Social Sciences at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
Dr Zuhrah has over 20 years of experience equipped with a Ph.D in Health Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counselling and Clinical Psychology. In addition, she has a Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and is a licensed Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Her expertise in Clinical Hypnosis was used in her PhD research, which researched the effectiveness of hypnosis intervention during pregnancy, labour and postpartum, resulting in the first such study conducted in Malaysia.
Dr. Zuhrah left academia in 2022 to focus more on clinical therapy by launching her own clinic, Smart Mind (https://www.smartmindpsyc.com/). She has vast experience treating various conditions, both psychological and medical using hypnosis, NLP, and others as a treatment option. She has also conducted various workshops on hypnosis in relation to stress management and pregnancy related conditions. Aside from conducting therapy face-to-face, Dr Zuhrah is also experienced in conducting therapy online, which includes conducting online hypnosis.
Prof. Alan J. Gow
Professor in Psychology, School of Social Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Professor Alan graduated with a BSc (Hons.) in Biological Sciences: Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, before completing his MSc by Research (Psychology) and PhD funded by a Royal Society of Edinburgh/Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland Studentship.
Prof Alan's research focuses on the identification of lifestyle and behavioural factors that predict healthy ageing, primarily brain health. His research examining interventions for cognitive ageing is conducted within The Ageing Lab (www.healthyageing.hw.ac.uk).
Dr Ke Guek Nee
Associate Professor in Psychology, School of Social Sciences at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
Dr Ke obtained a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from National University of Malaysia (UKM). Dr Ke is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and Malaysian Psychological Association (PSIMA). Her research interest includes the prevention of Internet addiction, leadership, workplace and psychological well-being. She has secured various national and international research grants namely Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) and Global Challenges Research Grants (GCRF).

Tharunnia M.S Ganesan
PhD Candidate & Research Assistant, School of Social Sciences at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
Tharunnia completed her BSc in Psychology (Hons.) from HELP University, MY and subsequently a MSc in Health Psychology from Coventry University, UK. She graduated with a distinction dissertation which explored the positive aspects of caregiving (PAC) in young adults towards parental cancer. After spending a few months volunteering with Coventry & Warwickshire Mind as a wellbeing hub assistant, Tharunnia returned to Malaysia and worked in the social & public policy field as a researcher in prevention and countering for violent extremism (P/CVE) and empathy training. As an active fieldwork researcher, Tharunnia travelled to various locations in Malaysia to conduct interviews for data collection purposes.
Tharunnia found her way back into Health Psychology in 2020. As a sponsored PhD candidate, Tharunnia now studies positive psychology interventions, psychological wellbeing of mothers during pregnancy through postpartum & parenthood transition in both fathers and mothers, under the supervision of Dr. Zuhrah, Prof. Alan and Dr Ke.
Prof. Dr. Jamiyah Hassan
Consultant OBGYN, Feto-med Visiting Lecturer & Consultant. Department of Obstertrics and Gynaecology at University Technology Malaysia (UITM), Sungai Buluh, Malaysia.
Dr Jamiyah earned her medical degree and subsequently received her postgraduate degree in Obstetrics And Gynaecology from University of Malaya. She received the Petronas Scholarship award to pursue the subspecialty training in feto-maternal medicine in Queen Charlotte’s Hospital London in 1994-1997. Her primary area of expertise is in feto-maternal health with special interest in womnen’s helath namely in the field of contraception, menopause and vaccination. She has been in medical education for more than 30 years. She has served as the Deputy Director (Professional) of University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) from 2006 – 2009, is a member of the Displinary Board 3 under the Malaysian Medical Council and was the Pesident of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia, and the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia Ultrasound Society of Malaysia.
A fouding member of the Asia Pacific Council on Contraception, Dr Jamiyah was a member of numerous medical organizations namely the National Committee for the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Death and Jawatankuasa Penapisan Tata Etika Pemasaran Makanan Bayi dan Produk Berkaitan Malaysia, to name a few. She has written publications and has been an invited guest on radio and television talk shows.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sofiah Sulaiman
Feto-maternal Specialist. Department of Obstertrics and Gynaecology at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Malaysia.
Dr Sofiah graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and subsequently received her postgraduate degree in Obstetrics And Gynaecology from University of Malaya. She then pursued a subspecialty training in feto-maternal medicine in Mater Mothers Hospital in Brisbane, Australia.
She is at present practising in University Malaya Medical Centre as a feto-Maternal specialist, taking care of high risk pregnancy women, and also active in teaching the undergraduate and post graduate students. Her research interest involve the well being of women in general gynaecology and also in improving maternal and fetal outcome.
