Main issues related to the academic life of PPGAgro students
1 - Teaching Internship
Exercised, on a mandatory basis, for master's and doctorate students. Master's students (1 practical credit) will work during one academic semester of their degree; Those with a doctorate (2 practical credits) will work during two academic semesters of the degree, whether consecutive or not, or for one year in serial courses.
Enrollment documentation: Activity Enrollment Form (Link), signed by the student and the supervisor and Initial Teaching Internship Form (https://sigaa.ufpb.br/sigaa/verProducao?idProducao=5880692&key=d1a856a58e58ecd 788ba1cd027cfc31c) filled and signed by the student, advisor and supervising professor of the subject to be taught.
Closing: at the end of the Teaching Internship, the student must send the Teaching Internship Report (Link) and also the final form (Link) signed by the student, advisor and supervising professor of the subject to the Program secretariat. After that, the discipline is consolidated in the historic plan.
2 - Qualification
Each student of the Postgraduate Program in Agronomy at the Doctoral level will be submitted to a Qualification Exam in the semester following the completion of credits or during the last semester of completion, provided that they have completed at least 80% of the credits provided for in your study plan, and to do so, the student must enroll in the mentioned Qualification Exam. To register, you must send the activity registration form (Link) filoed and signed by the student and the advisor to the Program secretary group.
Composition of the qualification panel: at least 5 members, 4 members and 1 alternate and at least 1 of them external to the Program. Consolidation of Qualification occurs with the delivery of the minutes signed by the members of the panel, the Program secretary and the student.
3 - Defense
To carry out the Thesis/Dissertation defense, it is necessary to send the activity registration form (Link) completed and signed by the student and the advisor to the Program secretariat. After confirmation of enrollment, the supervising professor will be able to register the student's committee, which will be composed of: at least three members for the dissertation, one of them being the advisor and at least one external to the Program; five members for the thesis, one of whom is the supervisor, at least two external to the Program and at least one external to the institution. For a doctorate case, the examination board cannot be the same as that of the Qualification. The defense is consolidated with the delivery of the minutes signed by the members of the panel, the Program secretary and the student. Note: For doctoral students, there must be a minimum interval of 15 (fifteen) days between qualification and thesis defense.
4 - Diploma Issuance
Documentation to be sent to the Program secretary (ppga@cca.ufpb.br)
1 - Forwarding memorandum (under the responsibility of the secretariat);
2 - Expedition Request signed by the student (delivered by the student); (Link)
3 - Declaration of payment from the library (delivered by the student);
4 - Personal documents (RG and CPF); (COAPG does not accept driver's license)
5 - Minutes of the Thesis/Dissertation defense signed by the members of the evaluation committee (delivered by the supervisor or the student);
6 – Delivery declaration of final versions (responsible for the secretary);
7 - Undergraduate Diploma (in the case of Master's) and Undergraduate and Master's Diploma (in the case of Doctorate); 8 - Academic Historic document (under the responsibility of the secretary);
9 - Final Guidance Report (delivered by the supervisor on the same date as the Final Work defense);
10 – Homologation Certificate (by the secretary after approval by the Program Board)
● It is also necessary to send a copy of the submission of 1 (one) Article (Master's) and 2 (two) (Doctorate) submitted to a journal with Qualis CAPES equal to or higher than B2.
The student will receive a protocol number in their email so that they can follow the progress of the process. The diploma is collected at the Diploma Sector in João Pessoa and can be done through a simple power of attorney (without the need for authentication at a notary's office) so that another person can collect it if the student is unable to attend.

5 - Self-deposit
Self-deposit refers to a joint procedure (teacher, student and secretary) carried out through SIGAA that occurs after the defense of the final work. The detailed steps for self-deposit can be found in the following link Self-deposit Manual. The diploma issuance process can only be opened after the self-deposit in SIGAA has been completed.
6 - Taking advantage of subjects
1 – PhD students from the PPGagro master’s degree: send a list of the subjects you wish to take advantage of to the email ppga@cca.ufpb.br (automatic acceptance);
2 – Doctoral students from other PPGs: send application for acceptance (Link) signed by the student and supervisor, subject syllabus and master's transcript. The process will be forwarded to the responsible professor who will analyze and issue an opinion.
- The subjects that are part of the PPGAgro curriculum must be placed in the “equivalence utilization” field; those that are not part of it but that are relevant to a subject offered in the Program must be placed in the “Acceptance of credits” field;
- The student will only be able to take a maximum of 18 credits (§5°, art 52, Consepe Resolution 12/2015);
- Only courses taken for a 5 years maximum will be accepted or opened (§ 6, art. 52, Consepe Resolution 12/2015).
- In accordance with §9 of art. 52 of Consepe Resolution 12/2015, “the use of subjects related to the master's degree must be requested by the end of the first academic quarter.
7 - Change of orientation

- Signed declaration of consent from the current advisor (Link);
- Letter of acceptance from the future supervisor (Link) (signed) The process is sent to a specific team and submitted for approval by the Board.
8 - Closing or withdrawing from subjects
Regularly enrolled students will be allowed to withdraw their enrollment in one or more subjects, as long as 30% of the activities planned for the subject have not yet been completed, except in special cases at the discretion of the Board (art. 36, CONSEPE Resolution 12/2015). The request for withdrawal must be made by the student through SIGAA (tab “Teaching”>”Curricular Component Lock”) and approved by the advisor.
9 - Insertion of co-supervisor

- Student thesis/dissertation project The process is sent to a specific group and voted on by the board. If approved, the co-supervisor will be included in SIGAA The invitation and acceptance can be formalized through an exchange of emails.
10 - Proficiency Exams
Master's degree: English only
Doctorate: English and Spanish
The student must complete the proficiency(s) within a period of up to 12 (twelve) months from the date of entry into the Program.
Note: from 2023 onwards, proficiency registrations will be automatic for all those who have not yet enrolled/completed.
11 - Extension of defense/scholarship deadline
- Request for extension, addressed to the program board (Link) (Signed by the student);
- Justification for extension, listing the reason(s) why the extension is requested (Link) (signed by the student);
- Advisor's opinion, confirming the student's justification and acknowledging the extension request (Link) (signed by the advisor) - Schedule of activities to be developed during the extension period;
- Outline of the thesis/dissertation The process is open and submitted for approval by the Program Board.
12 - Mandatory subjects
Master's: Experimental Statistics I, Seminar, Scientific Research Methodology, Higher Education Methodology and Plant Physiology.
Doctorate: Experimental Statistics I, Experimental Statistics II, Seminar, Scientific Research Methodology, Higher Education Methodology and Plant Physiology.
13 - Minimum number of credits for completion
Master's degree: 24 (twenty-four) credits;
Doctorate: 36 (thirty-six) credits.
14 - Project delivery
Master's degree: during the student's second academic quarter in the Program (Ex.: student entered in 2023.1, must deliver project in 2023.2);
Doctorate: during the student's third academic quarter in the Program (Ex.: student entered in 2023.1, must deliver project in 2023.3)
Project delivery dates will be published in the PPGAgro academic calendar;
