Powwows are living cultural spaces. If it’s your first time, no stress, just let respect be your guide.
Stand for Grand Entry, Flag Songs, and Honor Songs if you are able.
Men, please remove your hats during these songs.
Follow the MC. If something is not allowed (photos, recording, certain songs), the MC will say so.
Photography is usually okay, but always ask permission before taking close photos of a dancer or their regalia.
Do not touch regalia, drums, or eagle feathers.
Only enter the arena when invited (like during intertribals).
No alcohol or drugs at the powwow.
Be mindful of elders and families, keep walkways clear and share space.
Support vendors respectfully, these are community businesses and artists.
Thank you for helping keep the circle strong.
